Kari Lynn Haugsten

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Kari Lynn Haugsten is a New York City-based Norwegian-American actor, singer, and aspiring comedian interested in directing, management, and writing in theater and television. She recently graduated from Syracuse University's Department of Drama with a B.F.A. in Acting. She moved to NYC for Syracuse University's Tepper Semester and is seeking opportunities in theater management and administration.

Kari began her acting journey at age 3 when her theater-critic-grandmother signed her up for a community theatre production of Cinderella, where she played a mouse so small you could hardly see her. Since then, she has broadened her horizons (and grown about three feet taller) and is excited to portray characters who are intelligent, complex, and able to speak their mind. 

 

She is passionate about finding the comedy in the absurdity of our current reality.  Saturday Night Live has been a huge inspiration to her for her entire life, and that has shaped the way she performs and writes comedy. While at Syracuse, Kari wrote headlines and articles and ran social media accounts (Instagram and Twitter) for the university’s The Onion- Style Satire Club The Kumquat (@sukumquat).

Although she spent most of her training onstage, roles in theatre management and directing enticed her throughout. Her degree culminated in a thesis project where she produced, directed, designed, dramaturged, and marketed a staged reading of her favorite play- read all about it here!

Kari is an artist in all aspects of her life and has been painting since before she could hold a pencil. She sells painted glassware, records, and woodburned art locally and from her art Instagram page (@karrott.s). ​
